Vancouver Trout fishing guide service for fly fishing or lure casting on rivers and lakes. Trout fishing in Vancouver offers the angler many fantastic options and rewards from river to lake. I have 2 decades knowledge fly fishing Vancouver BC rivers and lakes, and our other fly fishing guides are top notch rods. Silversides has spent years developing proven patterns that consistently take fish and we custom tie all our flies too. There is fly fishing well known rivers like the Squamish, Pitt or Harrison for Bull Trout (aka Dolly Varden), Cutthrout Trout and Rainbow trout to helicopter fishing some remote coastal rivers that are teaming with Trout and Steelhead and the only fly they've seen is yours.
Vancouver offers great fly fishing on lakes and is world renown for producing good numbers of Rainbow trout on very nutrient rich waters. Lakes are situated in the southwestern BC hign country plateau where wildlife such as moose, deer and bears are common sights. Lake fly fishing is done from float tubes for comfort and stealth. It is quite common to catch 20-50 fish in a day on some easy lakes that produce 1-2 lb trout, but there are also the tough lakes that produce Rainbow trout to 8 lbs or more. On these lakes a good day is 6 fish but when we time it perfectly it can be non stop action.
I do recommend booking multiple day trips for the lake fishing due to travel logistics, that way you can enjoy more fishing and less travelling, but we do have some nice options for day trips too.
Best time for Lake fishing is early May to mid July and September to October.
Best time for Trout River trips are mid March to early May and also November to mid December.

Steelhead Fishing near Vancouver, BC in the Fraser Valley is great on the Chilliwack River where fish average 10-12 lbs and are good biters on roe, pink worms, jigs and blades. The Pitt River also offers good returns of Steelhead. Fly fishing is also productive at times but some skill is required if you want hookups. If you have experience river fly fishing with 8-9 weights and sink tip line then you have a good chance. Beginners need to consider using our gear methods for any success. I believe catching fish is more important than the method.
Best times for Steelhead are January to April.
Steelhead range from 6-24 lbs
