Fraser river guidedSturgeon fishing trips in the Mission to Chilliwack BC area!: Fraser riverSturgeon fishing will start again for us in March/April. Guided Sturgeon Fishing Trips in 2009 produced some very nice fat fish combined with great jumps and good runs. We consistently had very good Sturgeon fishing success this year from June to November and there was many VERY Big fish this year including the 500 lb Sturgeon brought in by Jim while filming a TV show for Shimano Japan!. Trust in our proven success. July to November is the prime time for these world record fish that many of my clients describe as better than Marlin! Our friends from Kings of Leon were out with us twice during their Vancouver visit in August and experienced some great Sturgeon fishing and caught some great King salmon too! Way to go Matt, Jarrod and Nacho. The Sturgeon are here and biting provided you've got good bait, and we do. Despite a poor return of Sockeye, we experienced a banner season for the other 4 salmon species. Don't forget to book early for prime sturgeon fishing dates from July 15 to Nov 15, this is when the Big boys get taken! with most Sturgeon averaging 5-7 feet! with that 10+ footer waiting for you!! Silversides knows all the best baits to fool these lunkers!
Guided Steelhead and Trout Fishing Lots of needed rain predicted to fall late this week will bring fresh Steelhead into the Chilliwack river, so fishing trips for the week of March 14-19 should be stellar! Fish over 15lbs are available in this river. January to April produces some great results for Steelhead up to 22 lbs but average 10-12 lbs. Our clients this season have been landing some nice hatchery Steelhead on the Vedder river, drifting our jigs under a float, which for us is the most productive method. Flyfishing for winter Steelhead is a challenging option but for the hardcore fly angler the reward is obvious! All our guided Steelhead trips last season netted hookups and some beautifull fish. If your into fly fishing one of our beautiful rivers for Bull trout and Dolly Varden we can take you to the Squamish area and experience a gorgeous river with stunning scenery and wild fish! Talk to you soon!

Rainbow Trout fly fishing from May to early July: We have over 2 decades of experience in this fishery, and will get you into some nice Rainbows on dozens of wilderness lakes to choose from within 4 hrs of Vancouver BC. This is classic stillwater fly fishing! Our Rainbow trout are excellent fighters, great jumpers and have a dark orange to red meat that makes for a tasty shore lunch! The lakes are nestled in true wilderness with plenty of wildlife and scenery.
Steelhead fishing on the Chilliwack river just east of Vancouver is done until December 2009. The Chilliwack river is the best choice for Steelhead near Vancouver with fish up to 22 lbs! this year. Our guided Steelhead fishing trips this season for this trophy fish proved a hit with Steelhead averaging 12-14 lbs. Best baits for Steelhead are roe, pink worms, big blades and jigs under a float which are deadly. Now is a good time for fly fishermen to try their luck.
Cutthroat Trout are available in the Harrison river and other smaller rivers and creeks for April to May and are best fished with flies. Call us soon for your next great fishing adventure!. ***Check updated fishing regs online or at your local tackle store***.

Vancouver Steelhead Fishing trips:
Guided Steelhead Fishing in Vancouver, BC is good from January to late April or early May but mid December can be good too. Currently we are seeing good numbers of large fish but the season is almost over now! We had great results for our clients this season(2009), with some very big fish too! Guided fly fishing for Steelhead near Vancouver is a good option for March and April. I recommend doing a 3 day Steelhead fishing trip for good success as the Chilliwack river is long and this will ensure you a great fishing experience. A successful day requires covering lots of water, patience and listening to your guide. When a hookup happens there's nothing like it. Steelhead season is from mid December to April on the Chilliwack river and March to May on the Squamish river system. The Squamish river is a real gem, low number of anglers, big runs, pure wilderness experience and lots of trout between Steelhead! We Steelhead fish with fly, centre pin or baitcaster(multiplier).
Call Silversides Fishing at (1) 604-864-5445 to set up a great day of Steelhead fishing. Email us.

Chinook salmon or Kings will be available all summer and into October. 2009 is Pink salmon year so don't forget to book early for prime dates(see below). Don't forget about the Big Harrison river Kings which run from mid September to late October, 60-70 pounders are available!
Coho Salmon : Done until October 2009. Coho's are notorious for taking flies and spoons.
Chinook : (King, Spring) salmon starts in June 2009 and peak times are July and August on the Fraser river. The later half of August has always been a fantastic time for these fish!
Pink salmon : 18 million fish will return from late August to late September 2009. Pinks are great family fun, easy to catch! Pink salmon are great for fly fishing. Why not try a group event?, affordable and great fun! and we have lots of experience delivering succesful trips.
Sockeye salmon : Currently DFO is predicting a return of 10 million for 2009 with the first 2 weeks of August slated as a sportfish opening. This is a busy time for charter operators so its best to secure your dates quickly(weekends are busy!). Recent scientific data shows that Fraser river juvenille Sockeye salmon have been hit hard by sea lice from fish farm operations on the central coast, so it is advisable not to consume farmed salmon to protect this historic run of magnificent fish. When people stop consuming this toxic product the farms will shut down and go away or make changes to protect our heritage.
Chum salmon : A fantastic fighting salmon that enters the Fraser river and it's tributaries from late September to late November. Silversides provide guided fishing for Chum salmon on the Harrison river, Stave river, Chilliwack river and Squamish river. We have Chum salmon figured out and have no problem hooking 50+ in a day during peak times! with our special custom made jigs. You can trust our expertise and skill. October is a good month for Chum but November is also a great time for Chums! and with low number of anglers I do recommend it.
The Fraser river is the main highway of salmon through the Summer and Fall months and our custom 19-24 ft jet boats get you around in comfort. Chinook salmon run from June to October, Sockeye salmon from August to October, Coho and Chum salmon from September to November. Pink salmon are every odd numbered year (September - early October) so 2009 will be the next run, they are great sport on the fly or spoon. Vancouver area Chinook, Coho and Chum salmon fly fishing on rivers is best from October to November, call (1) 604-864-5445 for specific info, or Email us
Vancouver Sturgeon Fishing trips:
Fraser river Sturgeon fishing will start in late March or early April and will go straight to late November. We have very high success rates as we are keeping our baits up to date on what the Sturgeon are feeding on and our experience and passion pays off with great results. Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser river is good in the Mission to Chilliwack area and also further down river near Maple Ridge. Give us a call for your arm-breaking fishing adventure!
Fraser river Sturgeon reach weights of over 1,000 lbs and are very strong, even the 50 lbers are a handful for most sport fishers. Sturgeon fishing charters are very popular with large groups, they make for great fun and we can help you set up a derby too! We can accommodate up to 20 people if you like. April to May and mid July to November are prime feeding times for Sturgeon but anytime from March to December can be good. For a great all inclusive Vancouver fishing vacation or holiday try a multiple day package - we have great accommodations close to the Fraser river for your enjoyment. We will customize a trip made for you, tell us what you want and we'll get it done.
The Squamish river and tributaries will start to fish well around early March 2009. Last April and May we had amazing results for big Bull trout to 9 lbs with many 5 and 6 lb fish on the fly. Fly fishing is the preferred method for these aggressive trout that can go over 10 pounds! March to May is the time for this fishery on a river that amazes with scenery. The famous Pitt river will have great fly fishing for sea run Bull trout from late May and thru all of June and some of July. Book ahead for this exclusive wild river with aggressive very big fish. Remote boat access only or Heli Fishing available. We also provide guided Heli fishing on remote coastal rivers that are teaming with trout. Single or multi day.
Lake fly fishing for Rainbow Trout starts May 1st and will last until mid July. All our Rainbow lakes are very quiet and set in true BC wilderness just over 2 hrs from Vancouver. I have a wealth of experience fly fishing our lakes and custom tie all our trout flies so your in good hands! On lakes, Rainbow Trout average 14-18 inches or 1.5-3lbs but many fish are bigger, 8 lb fish are available on some lakes! We use float tubes for comfort and stealthiness, they're easy to pack into those lakes that require a nice 5 minute walk, getting you into true wilderness and great fishing, but most lakes we can drive to on 4 wheel drive logging roads. We fish for Rainbows on lakes 2-3hrs from downtown Vancouver, making day trips feasible but multiple day trips with wilderness cabin lodging offers a far more relaxing experience and we can set up great fishing vacation packages for you customized to meet your needs.
Fishing on the Squamish river in October and November is prime time for chrome bright ocean fresh Chum salmon and Coho salmon too! We fish with methods that do not floss(snag) these beautiful biting fish and once they are hooked it's a fantastic battle. Chums average 10-15 lbs but 20 pounders are there! They are relentless fighting fish!. We offer guided fly fishing for Chum and Coho too for the purist and I have many years experience tying flies and fishing for these beauties. One of the great things about the Squamish is it's close proximity to Vancouver but yet it is situated in a tight river valley surrounded by high mountains and glaciers, along with plenty of wildlife such as bald eagles, bear, elk and deer.
